1st Game of the Season !

We had a great first game !! I was really impressed by the hussle and amount of aggression(our girls are usually kind of timid) I saw out there !! Below are the words of Helen, our Team Mom, Assist Coach, head Cheerleader and energizer bunny!!!

What a first game! I found myself all wound up with the play on the field. The girls played well considering we never had all 14 at one practice! We have 2 gals completely new to soccer and I think everyone delivered quality play. We had two goals kicked (Aimee’s was called back because of offsides and Ashley’s was off a stolen ball!), we had some good passing (Marissa got the passing award), and clearing to the outside (Mikel and Goalie Allison received Hustle awards), and we stopped their offense several times (Kyna and Shannon Ostling each received Rock Defender awards), and best of all we stayed encouraged and positive (Maia received the team spirit award, smiling as we yelled for her to move here and there!).

Awards will be given each game day to players working hard, supporting the team, and following directions. Awards will be due back by the next week Thursday practice or 30 min before game day to be presented again after the game! Congrats to all the players on a game well-played! (and to all the families supporting those girls in the rain and donating to the “Goal Can”...we’ve got money for the pizza party YEAH!!!!)

Besides great players, I also think Coach did a good job of substituting and maintaining strength on the field. And Darrell Brown did a fine job as linesman.
